I don't think Dave is ever actively looking for other jobs.
He's probably too scared to take a step up, and just wants to take his nice comfy salary in fargo, and play in a terrible conference, where he can make the NCAA tourney every few years and his AD and president will be happy with that.

I would say it's highly likely that Dave didn't play him because of that exact reason.

I'm sure Jacari wanted to play, in case he doesn't have a school already offering him, so he could showcase himself in the tourney.
