MWC: WEEK #2

Post by JBB2 »

6 FCS games. Weak MWC scheduling. Not a fast track to the CFP. Montana State & ISU-r might be exceptions but FCS is FCS. We will find out how the FCS stats stand up to FCS.

Northern Co has great game stats but lost 2 close games. I think Wyoming might dominate but that’s not what the numbers say.

ISU-r almost looks like an anomaly. Maybe it is but that’s the picture the numbers paint. NIU looked terrible and the Redbirds cphave been rolling. They could turn this into a laugher.

NDSU is a clear favorite and Hawaii looks to be up against a challenge with CUSA New Mexico State.

UNLV is in a tight game with North Texas. This would be a huge win for the MWC.

These guys are good. It’s a week old. They announced NDSU as FBS team of the week. It runs 50 min.

Their main point is NDSU is ready, there are questions. Will the old system of player development work? Will increasing out-bound transfers damage the program? Why is NDSU so good?
There’s something in the ice water up there
They have first hand knowledge with detailed insights:

Ps. They do discuss the Illinois State loss

Fordham attendance wasn’t great. It was a big D2 crowd, average FCS. The crowd did look good on tv but open seats were visible. I estimated fewer tickets left too. The end zones are tough sells. Stadium improvements would help fan convenience and seat accessibility.

Some odd indicators this week for some of the games. Here’s one that could be a lot closer than many think.

NoCo brings some pretty good FCS stats. Can they hold up against what I think will be an improved Wyo team ready to flex their muscle

This guy rates the Fargo Dome 365/500. Here’s a review of the home stadium from the first FBS game

Pre game 85. He loved it
Stadium. 79 Showing its 30 years but well maintained
Traditions 78
Atmosphere 80 - if the tailgate lots were bigger he would have been more impressed
Student section 66 - everybody left early, otherwise ok

It’s been rumored they have been fixing nfl games for a while. Now college? The MAC has declared Western Michigan the winner over Michigan and has appealed the call. It was, as you probably know, a fiasco with a secret clock and two miracle endings.

WMU wins the first miracle ending securing the upset by knocking the Hail Mary pass down. Clock runs out while ball is in the air. Game over.

Secret clock with 1 second left shows up. The second Hail Mary is good!

The call secured the original bets reversed by the failed Hail Mary. I didn’t see the odds, spread or money line but if gangsters were fixing games wouldn’t the EMU ML bet have been a big winner? Either way, if it was fixed, the power forced 1 sec back on a secret clock. Then they secured the win with the second Hail Mary. Was that fixed too?

NDSU defense needs to stay on assignment, hit the QB every play, use team speed to stretch the pitch prevent ing the corner turn.

Stay on assignment to defend against the dive and misdirection.

Linebackers need speed to stretch the roll-outs

Defensive backs need to defend against the inevitable pass.

It could be a low scoring shorter game if it stays on the ground. NDSU line and the arm of Hayes could put them against the wall early. As all Bison fans know it’s tough to play the option from behind and/or short clock.

It might even be worth consideration to take the ball if we win the toss.

For better or worse we decided to go early this week. O/U on the NDSU game is already on the way down. Glad we got it at 47.5
