So what. All our money is gone. That mean we got everyone. Plus you cant offer everyone either.
so what? SO WHAT?
now how are we going to pay for someone to come here for one season and then go somewhere else???
NIL? FCOA? plus there is another thing I cant remember.
We lose players every year. At this juncture we are full up. So why would we belooking for a 1 year player?
I'd pony up some NIL money for one year of Lakes but after that year he HAS to transfer/portal. Forgot to comment on the "Coach told him" comment. No Bison coach would be dumb enough to tell him anything. If they would, they should be fired.
Russell, a two-way star out of Prescott, Wis., held nine offers before making his decision and received interest from Washington State and Big Ten programs Iowa, Minnesota, Northwestern and his hometown Wisconsin Badgers. He was offered by former NDSU head coach Matt Entz and Fresno State, Wyoming, Northern Illinois, Kent State, NDSU, UND, South Dakota State and Northern Iowa. Russell was offered by NDSU in November, his first, and took a junior day visit up to NDSU in late January.
He was an all-state corner and wide receiver for Prescott in 2024. In 2024, the 6'1" corner recorded 34 tackles, four interceptions and 18 pass breakups in 2024 and made 36 receptions for 647 yards on offense, good for 18.0 yards per reception. Russell also made 32 receptions for 522 yards as a sophomore and rushed for over 250 yards the last two seasons.
My impression: lots of high level recruits and FBS drop downs indicate players see opportunity in the FCS.
I get that. It’s the revolving door. NDSU has a top notch College of Football. Lots of transfers in some out and lots of recruiting power.
I think the days of the of the old college try are over. It’s now just some kind of pro league. The jig is up on the myth of the student athlete. No more playing for the old Alma mater They are not college kids. They are professionals. NDSU will be a first step for many.
The only FBS transfers we will get are guys that want to play and showcase their talent, which is a good thing.
If they are after money, they would likely transfer to another FBS...even a G5 would give them more money.
If they were at a P5 and looking to transfer, there are many other options they have in FBS as opposed to FCS.
So all in all, they should be guys looking to play and show their talent if they transfer to NDSU from FBS
