It’s not all doom and gloom
NDSU’s Recruiting Class Ranks 2nd in Mountain West

SB Nation’s Mountain West Connection ranked the Bison second for recruiting in April behind UNLV, which participated in the conference championship game last year.

How many stars did Cody Mauch, Griffin Empey, Cody Huisman, Spencer Waege, Hunter Luepke, Nathan Hayes, Tanner Volson, Joe Haeg, Etc. have? I'll hang up and listen.

I’m not even sure the stars are talent related as much as a measure of the players demand. Assumption being the more interest the better the player?

Of course they do have to look good on paper too. As mentioned, there are a lot of good players with great stats not stared.

Desmond King (Hawkeye D) had a lot of stars. So many NDSUs unheralded FCS players had no chance.

Seems NDSU coaches rely on recruiting good athletes. Then they coach them up.

NDSU players seem to get their stars while playing at NDSU

If best athletes available are a given Bison secrets are:
  • Solid coaching
  • Pre-season preparation
Long history of next man up. They start the season ready to go.

Just picked this up on UNLV. 2027 class
So far, UNLV has been able to land six new prospects for the 2027 recruiting cycle. There are three three-star recruits; the other three are no-stars. These recruits have landed UNLV 75th in the nation overall, and second in the Mountain West, just behind Fresno State. With months to go until signing day, the Rebels have already made very strong strides.
They are excited about their QB
By far, the biggest recruit UNLV has been able to land this offseason is Luke Farrell, a three-star quarterback from Tempe, Arizona. In 2025, Farrell would pass for 2020 yards, 12 passing touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. He would also rush for 111 yards and four rushing touchdowns.
