JBB2 wrote: Mon Feb 02, 2026 12:46 pm I just heard from Ahrefs that Augusta is still looking at the MVFC. They have a great team & winning tradition. Their budget is less than half MVFC average, their stadium is pretty small but in the Sioux Falls market they have a big following. All they need is a fair share of the conference money.

Just like the Mountain West and FCS?

QUESTION FROM AI:

Maybe Mankato or St Thomas would be more accurate?
Augustana would struggle to win any conference games in the Valley. God Bless 'em for their aspirations, and maybe they can walk that path and grow the program? But it would be a long uphill path. Nestled halfway between Brookville & Vermintown they would struggle with local recruiting. I think Mankato or St Thomas would be better suited to be competitive quicker,
Mankato/MVFC is probably most similar to NDSU/MWC. Both could become competitive in the new environment. Augi might never make it repeating their NCC history. St Thomas has more visibility and many think the resources.

Interesting look at the unworkable costs of college athletics. NDSU has managed well. I believe a MWC move is an expensive boondoggle. Maybe even a step down. Last thing NDSU wants is to drown in debt like examples in this presentation.

COLLEGE ATHLETICS IS HEADED FOR A FINANCIAL BREAKDOWM

Where would NDSU make a difference? No place. Many NDSU fans are delusional. A move to FBS is a move to oblivion.

Mankato to the MVFC/Summit makes more sense, They have a funding advantage with enrollment larger than most MVFC/MWC schools. Their facilities in comparison to other MVFC/Summit schools is better than NDSU to the MWC. Location is very good. They even have D1 hockey. Lots of D1 hockey in the Summit.

Haven’t looked at budgets but the move from D2 isn’t that great. Certainly nothing like a move to FBS.

You may have made it happen Lakes!

Not official but negotiations are underway.

My hats off to them if they pull it off. Matt Larsen has handled this very well.

10 million entry fee for the Bison. They must have a money tree in blossom.

Lots of positive feelings.

He even read your comment promising huge NDSU crowds both home and away.
