I can't find the DOGE report that your link references. The SSA site and the AP have significantly different numbers. SSA shows about 146 million people received social security, supplemental security income or both for Jan 2025. Social security numbers are not reused and they were first issued in 1936 so it is understandable that the table contains people 150 years old and even older. The total of the those 170 and older is about 10,000. Given that 450 million numbers have been issued, this is seems like a pretty low error rate.
