Interesting take but pissed me off a little. Future MVFC/SUMMIT expansion candidates GRAND VALLEY STATE and. FERRIS STATE are being mentioned for the MAC.

We'll need Kevin to confirm or negate their statehood status.

Sorry, but Ferris wheels are not a state.

True, they are D2 states, but they are the only states available for D1AA, now FCS, expansion. Don’t screw this up bros 😎. D1AA, now FCS, is home sweet home for NDSU.

I checked and if I’m right they won’t even need an NCAA exemption.

Per D1AA, now FCS, regulations etc. re: scheduling classifications, BOTH of these conditions must be met for claiming, advertising and/or boasting state status:
“the schools official stationary must say “State” and the school must be located with-in the boundaries of an existing state.”

Joining the MAC is a mistake. No upside. It’s a far-flung MVFC. Besides, schools that don’t schedule NDSU aren’t going to be lining up. They didn’t for other move-up’s either.

A good salesman - Lakes? - should be able to get a premium from the FBS for a remarkable SOS game like The Bison. Just the thing a bubble team might need when the committee compares their NDSU game with another’s Northern AZ or JMU type game.
  • FCS classification was and probably still is considered a SOS negative. Maybe once it was true but for a school that is regularly ranked among the FBS top 50 and has 10 national D1 titles, it should be a thing of the past.
  • Being a regular D1AA, now FCS move-up candidate can’t hurt.
  • It will also be a big draw for them.
  • It will be their best chance against a top 50 squad and perennial FCS champion.
Maybe Jade could set something up?

The Gophers could really use a win in a game like this.

kevin wrote: Sat Jan 18, 2025 9:06 pm In fact, let's do a deep dive on this shit con.

1) University of Akron (not a state, technically a circle of hell)
2) Ball (is not a) State University (stupid and gay)
3) Bowling Green (is not a) State University (gay and stupid)
4) University of Buffalo (wants to be the Bills. Isn't)
5) Central Michigan University (directional, see above)
6) Eastern Michigan University (directional)
7) Kent (is not a) State University (pew pew hippies)
8) Miami University (Indian call center scam tier scam bait)
9) Northern Illinois University (directional, now is apparently in the rocky mountains so it's really western illinois university. oh wait. we're stuck with them)
10) Ohio University (state confirmed but stole our bball coach and started us down the Richman road so fuck them too)
11) Unversity of Toledo (oh look another circle of ohio hell)
12) Western Michigan University (directional, probably the worst of the directions)
For me it’s the eastern directionals. I don’t like liberal “back-east” stuff. “Out-west” is ok.

east to me is whinny and negative. West is positive. North is strong. South is fast.
