By now most Bison fans must be waking up from the fantasy of the CFP. Lots of racket about unqualified/undeserving programs getting in doesn’t bode well for the MWC. Tulane? They don’t even like Old Miss much less dissed and mocked JMU. Expect changes.
The division will cater to the top programs. NDSU and the MWC will not get in very often if ever. Without some type of reorganization Expensive Oblivion could await NDSU.
A coming split of the 20 million dollar programs seems inevitable. I believe the FCS is going to reshuffle too. In the end maybe looking similar to the FBS Bison fans want to join now minus the “professional” teams. The remaining programs may simply join us. See Idaho. They will want a piece of the attainable and much admired FCS playoffs.
It could happen piecemeal like the FCS/D1 move with NDSU leading the way or boom it’s a divisional reorganization.
Curious about what’s going on now. I hear rumors soon, maybe today. I’m not sure myself, UFO buffs had a big build up for ATLAS 3I. Dec 19 came and went. Of course there’s the upcoming meteor shower with all the added comet debris…

G5 teams will never get in again, unless they are ranked in the top 12 at least end of year. Guarantee that whatever rule gets created this offseason, it will 100% not give any autobids for G5. So, since the big dogs don't want G5 in there, the only way a G5 will have any sort of chance is:
1. Hopefully be able to schedule two top 30ish teams every year for your non con schedule
2. Win BOTH of those games
3. Go undefeated
Tough road ahead for the G5's hoping to have a miracle run

So we're back to where we are now with none of the top tier programs brave enough to get on the field with the formidable Bison.

I’m not sure those upsets could happen again. NIL money would have those NFL capable juniors and seniors not NDSU.
Wolfe has it nailed but scheduling the games wouldn’t be any easier than now. There’s a middle ground of programs overlapping FCS & FBS that if distilled out would be the programs NDSU could consider peers.
Ps. I noticed when they got the ticket JMU was suddenly ranked 12. They did put up 509 yds on Oregon but couldn’t score.

Part of me feels like the committee let two in this year to create the scandal (thus the sacrificial lamb notre dame) to make it easy to never do again

Possible opening with the 24 team field. It will look like the FCS playoffs. Some conferences just don’t measure up.
